শ্যামা মা উড়াচ্ছ ঘুড়ি (ভবসংসার (ভবসংসার বাজার মাঝে) ।
(ওই যে) আশা-বায়ু ভরে উড়ে, বাঁধা তাহে মায়া দড়ি ॥
কাক গণ্ডি মণ্ডি গাঁথা, পঞ্জরাদি নানা নাড়ী।
ঘুড়ি স্বগুণে নির্মাণ করা, কারিগরি বাড়াবাড়ি ॥
বিষয়ে মেজেছ মাঞ্জা, কর্কশা হয়েছে দড়ি।
ঘুড়ি লক্ষের দুটা-একটা কাটে, হেসে দাও মা হাত-চাপড়ি ।
প্রসাদ বলে, দক্ষিণা বাতাসে ঘুড়ি যাবে উড়ি।
ভবসংসার সমুদ্রপারে পড়বে গিয়ে তাড়াতাড়ি ॥

English Rendering
In the world's busy market-place, O Syama, Thou art flying kites;
High up they soar on the wind of hope, held fast by maya's string.
Their frames are human skeletons, their sails of the three gunas made;
But all their curious workmanship is merely for ornament.
Upon the kite strings Thou hast rubbed the manja paste of world-liness,
So as to make each straining strand all the more sharp and strong.
Out of a hundred thousand kites, at best but one or two break free;
And Thou dost laugh and clap Thy hands, O Mother, watching them!
On favouring winds, says Ramprasad, the kites set loose will
speedily Be borne away to the Infinite, across the sea of the world.

हिन्दी भावार्थ
श्यामा माँ, संसार-रूपी बाजार के बीच तूं पतंग उड़ा रही है। यह आशा-वायु के सहारे उड़ती है।
इसमें माया की डोर लगी हुई है। उनकी संरचना मानव कंकाल जैसी है, उनके पाल तीनों गुणों से बने हैं; परन्तु उनकी सारी कारीगरी केवल सजावट के लिए है।
आपने पतंग के धागे पर सांसारिकता का मंज मला है,
ताकि प्रत्येक तना और भी तीक्ष्ण और मजबूत हो जाए।
लाखों में से दो ही एक (पतंगें) कटती हैं और तब तू हँसकर तालियाँ पीटती है।
